Capacity Building Training Held

COWASH Regional Support Unit (RSU) staffs participated in the in the Resources Mobilization and project management training which was organized from 3-28 November 2014 in Addis Ababa. It was a training that aims to enhance the understandings of the participants on resource mobilization, proposal writing, project planning and Management, Intitutional Development and Organizational Strengthening.  

Eight RSU staff members of COWASH Project, two from each region, that is Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and SNNP, took part in the training of three selected modules out of the four modules available for the training.  

 In the first training module on Resource Mobilization, Project Planning and Proposal Writing which was organized from 3-7 Nov. 2014 only Malkam

u  Dalju, Oromia’s RSU team Leader, attended the training while Solomon G/Tsedik, Abraham Kebede, Bekele Kassaye from Tigray, Amhara and SNNP RSU team Leaders respectively participated in the second training module on Project Management from 12-15, November, 2014.  Ghermai Tesfa, Mulatu Ferede, Fekadu Megersa and Edegelegne Hailu from RSU Capacity Building Specialists in Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and SNNP respectively took part in the last module which focuses on Institutional Development and Organizational Strength. The last training was conducted from 24-28 Nov. 2014.  

The training which was held in Gudina Atomsa Training Center in Addis Ababa has attracted more than 60 participants from different non-governmental, inter-governmental, bilateral and religious organizations from across Africa.  The training was organized and conducted by Regional Partnership for Resource Development and Institute of Fundraising and Resource Development which is based in Nairobi, Kenya. Stand for Vulnerable Organization was the local NGO that coordinates the training from Ethiopia.

Dr. John Chikati, Regional Coordinator of Regional Partnership for Resource Development, Nairobi, Kenya was the main resource person of the whole training Modules.  The same training program is scheduled to be organized in May and August in 2015 by the Organizers.

COWASH Federal has witnessed the final closing ceremony of the training and the main trainer has received an overwhelming appreciation and award for him and his family with Ethiopian cultural presents from the trainees.

It was also learnt from feedback reports and conversation with COWASH RSU staff who attended the training that it was very good in their personal capacity development; it improved their confidence in defining and developing projects, proposal writing, evaluation and rating of the project. They were able to give ratings of COWASH project in their respective regions.

COWASH participants of the training commented that it could have been a success for project them if they were able to complete the whole modules of the training.
