After the results of the three M.Sc. theses and the one B.Sc. thesis were presented in a research workshop in Addis Ababa in last October, all the theses have now been finalized and published for wider audience. According to the research results, the CMP approach seems to be as efficient as the project reports from Amhara and Benishangul-Gumuz have shown. However, all the researchers are proposing several improvements to be taken into account in the future development of the CMP approach.
A workshop to discuss the revised COWASH project document on the implementation of the CMP approach was organized on November 28, 2012 in Addis Ababa. 41 participants from federal ministries, Embassy of Finland and from all 5 regions of Amhara, Tigray, SNNPRS, Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz participated in the discussions.
In May this year, 17 environmental engineering and water resources engineering students from the Aalto University of Finland familiarized themselves with the Ethiopian water sector and the CMP approach in particular.
A workshop on WaSH / Micro Finance Institutions (MFI) / Multiple Use Services (MUS) was conducted in Addis Ababa on 21.9.2012. Around 25 participants from several MFIs, NGOs and governmental organizations (Ministries of Water & Energy, Agriculture) participated in this interdisciplinary workshop.

The CMP related research project (ReCMP) supported by the Finnish Society of Soil and Water Technology (Maa- ja vesitekniikan tuki ry) was launched in the beginning of 2012 and is now proceeding at full speed.

The first preparatory meeting of the "One National WaSH Program" Task Force took place on March 28, 2012 in the Ministry of Water and Energy. The event signaled the first action steps taken on the road towards "One National WaSH Program" in Ethiopia. The harmonized and integrated sector program will easen the financing and implementation of the CMP in the future as all funds can be chaneled through one consolidated WaSH account.
