Community-Led Accelerated WASH (COWASH) conducted a disability mainstreaming the first round training of trainers (TOT) in Bishoftu from 16-19 July 2017. The first round TOT workshop brought more than 30 participants that also include a number of persons with disabilities (PwD)) from COWASH five regions.
Community-Led Accelerated WASH (COWASH) conducted Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) a TOT workshop for experts from sector bureaus of the project regions from 8-10 June 2017 in Bishoftu. The objective of the workshop was to introduce and enrich the project’s MSE development guideline and cultivate consensus on the forward.
30 March 2017, Addis Ababa: Today, the Government of Ethiopia convened the eight Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MSF-8th ) in Addis Ababa in the presence of government officials, ambassadors, members of the Donors Assistance Group, UN representatives, Development Partners, Civil Society, Organizations, public and private sector, Academicians, Researchers as well as of the media. The theme of this year’s MSF is “Climate Resilient and Inclusive ONE WaSH Programme,” reflecting the extraordinary drought that the country has faced in 2016 and 2017.

Community-led Accelerated WASH (COWASH) organized a workshop (March 20-21, 2017) to develop COWASH Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation Strategy for Phase III in Axum town of Tigray regional state. More than, 30 people from 5 COWASH regions participated in the two-day workshop.In addition, with the objective to learn from the experiences in sanitation marketing, participants of the workshop also paid a visit to Limat Sanitation Marketing micro and small enterprise, a women only business in Medabayzena district.
Community-Led Accelerated WASH (COWASH), in collaboration with Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity and other stakeholders, marked the 2017 International Women’s Day in Addis Ababa. The event was celebrated with the nationally coined theme, ‘improved women’s saving culture is the foundation for our renaissance,’ and was marked as 41st womens’ day celebration in Ethiopia.
Oromia Community-Led Accelerated WASH (COWASH) organized a Review and Planning Workshop from 15-16 December 2016 in Sebeta City of Oromia National Regional State. This is the annual regional workshop for reviewing the performance of the last fiscal year and planning for the next fiscal year. More than 100 people who came from 12 districts, 5 zones and sector bureaus participated to the workshop.
Amhara Community-Led Accelerated WASH (COWASH) conducted a review and planning workshop on 1st and 2nd of December 2016 in Bahir Dar city. The main objective of the annual meeting is to evaluate performances of the last fiscal year and planning activities for the current fiscal year.

The Government of Ethiopia and the Government of Finland are launching a 960 Million Birr safe water supply, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) project that runs from August 2016 to July 2019. The project, Community-Led Accelerated WASH (COWASH), is going to continue WASH implementation in 76 districts of 5 national regions.
